I'm definitely planning to use this tool for an upcoming project I'm working on.

The two work together but not with the new self domain name option :(

I lost my Contribute 4 install so I haven't been able o verify or deny that.

We purchased Contribute 3 and it did help some of our designers edit some sites faster. We used the Contribute 4 to see how it worked with the editing of Blogs and I am not yet all that impressed. Doesn't seem to work with all templates as it has a tendency to distort in edit mode which might confuse some users. So unless we have installed a CMS panle on some of our customers sites we stick to the ftp process! Just an opinion :)

Deborah, I can agree that Contribute has a few issues where it distorts while in edit mode and your right, that's not good for customers. I haven't played with Contribute 4 to much, but I've come to the conclusion that it's probably not the best desktop blogging application. I'd rather send users to a blog admin to make posts, then though Contribute.

Is it hard to use it with Wordpress?
  • Thomas McMahon · 2 years ago
Violette - I briefly tried blogging with Contribute when it first came out and I don't remember it being an issue. I think it'd be just as easy as any other blog client. Always download the free trial of Contribute first though to do you testing. Try before you buy. ;)

I have gone through the Adobe website for downloading this. But it seems like it is not free :( Even if i have to download trial, i have to register with them with their website that is of no use if i am not visiting their website frequently.

And more over, when windows is delivering their bloging software for free. So there is no real sense for people like me who blogs just for fun to do a purchase or work with trial. Here is the link of downloading Windows Writer : http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/

I can understand your concerns Ajeet, but I'd like to just put in a note that Contribute 4 does fill a need for some users who, for various reasons, cannot use tools like Windows Writer. Just because something is free doesn't mean it will work for everyone. To add my two cents, I have discovered Contribute 4 to be an asset to our workflow when working with clients and their websites and/or blogs.

Properly leveraging Contribute helps us relieve a bit of the administration and functional scaffolding required of a custom developed web application or site.
